KENT Cricket C.E.O. Jamie Clifford has ruled out any Twenty20 franchise merger with other counties.
Speaking exclusively to this blog at Kent’s media day (10th April 2015), Mr Clifford said: “I can be absolutely unambiguous: we absolutely wouldn’t entertain it.
“We’re proudly Kent County Cricket Club and we’ve got a history going back before our formal founding in 1870 – it [Kent]’s the cradle of the game. We have no appetite for partnering up with anybody.
“What we do have an appetite for is making sure that we have the best competition for domestic Twenty20 and we’ll do everything in our power to influence those discussions to make that a reality.”
Mr Clifford also spoke about the upcoming First-Class tour match against Australia, the Women’s Kia Test at the Spitfire Ground, St. Lawrence and the bid to host 2017 Women’s World Cup matches.
